“ANGELS WITH HAMMERS”
PROPOSES KATRINA-RELIEF
CONCERT IN SUPERDOME
VOLUNTEERS WOULD STAY
AND HELP REBUILD FOR WEEKS
ALGIERS NEIGHBORHOOD, NEW ORLEANS
APRIL 18, ‘07
Blaine Kern, head of Mardi Gras World,
has pledged the use of 140 generators with tractors to
help in the “Angel With Hammers” New Orleans
rebuilding effort.
“Angels With Hammers” is a new group
that plans to draw thousands to New Orleans in
mid-August.
The group wrote Pete Seeger, the legendary
folk-singer and activist, for a letter of support.
Seeger, now 88, wrote back “your plan to have a
massive Katrina-relief music festival sounds great.
It’s ideas like this which are going to save this
weary planet.”
“Angels With Hammers” is working with two
other groups. Bayou Coastal Indian Tribes, a group
of Louisiana Natives, will invite so-called “Indians”
to perform. “Delta Helps Delta,” West Africans
living in the Inland Delta of the Niger River, will
invite musicians from Mali.
